The Fairfield Police Department has a new four-legged recruit and she needs a name.

The 12-week-old bloodhound puppy will be trained as a tracking dog, specializing in finding missing people.

Police are asking the public to weigh in by dropping name suggestions on their Facebook post., which more than a thousand people have liked.

Name suggestions include Metro in honor of Fairfield Metro’s National Little League recent historic run to the national finals.

Someone offered Olaf, a nod to a bloodhound’s olfactory nerve which is responsible for its sense of smell. And someone thought she looked like a Marge or a Gertie.
